PAMGAM Gains a few and loses a few
The gang left France down into the lands of beaches and chocolate covered churros. We met in Barcelona and made sure to stop by the only store in Europe, Decathalon. After stocking up on the necessary supplies, we navigated the bustling streets of non-stop construction before finding solace in our little hostel. With adventure in mind, we got a few tacos and chilled out.
Our night was filled with free sangria and a host who INSISTED on us going out to party with him. We, being the most tired folk around, politely declined and drank more sangria. The night seemed fine until our last guest sent us an alarming message.
Plane delayed. Arrival time pushed.
What were we to do? Alas, the Barcelona airport wasn’t fair. Except.. Ryanair didn’t fly into Barcelona proper. It flew into Barcelona… Girona. Due to an error in not understanding the difference between two airport with basically the same name, our last compatriot’s flight was arriving over an hour away from us.
Yikes.
He got delayed but eventually made his way from the airport and hitchhiked to the beach some 30 minutes away. We dropped a sweet dear Kelp and Lucy off at the regular Barcelona airport and made the trek to the other Barcelona airport before rerouting to the beach. There, we rescued our poor lost mariner from the rocky alcove where he was perched.
Our grand meeting of all 8 of us lasted a total of 3 minutes at the regular Barcelona airport before we bid them farewell. The 6 of us were bound for the lap of luxury in an Airbnb downtown.
We arrived to an apartment with a gorgeous balcony view and excellent accommodations. But disaster struck when we started our group’s laundry. The power went out!
We got ahold of the building manager who spoke no english. Thankfully me, the group’s faithful interpreter who knows barely any Spanish, managed to use charades to discover that maybe we shouldn’t run both washers and dryers at the same time. The owner of the apartment was sweet enough to send us some excellent croissants and many apologies.
Crisis averted, for now.
